Embark on a 7-night luxury Nile Cruise aboard the Alexander the Great Nile Cruise, starting and ending in Aswan, and witness the awe-inspiring Total Solar Eclipse of August 2, 2027, from one of the best viewing locations on Earth—Luxor, Egypt. This once-in-a-lifetime journey blends celestial wonder, ancient history, and five-star comfort along the world’s most legendary river.
Features
Key Features and Highlights of MS Alexander the Great:
* All cabins and suites have views of the Nile River. Instead of being the same as all the other suites, each one is unique in terms of color, texture, and atmosphere. Suites come with their own air conditioning, a mini-bar, an in-room safe, a satellite or LCD TV/DVD, allergenic foam pillows, luxury bathrobes, and in many cabins, a full-size bathtub and teak floors in the bathroom. There are about 30 suites or rooms on the ship (some sources say 28/30), which makes it cozier than many bigger Nile cruise ships.
Facilities for the public and for fun
* The upper deck has a heated pool and hot tub, as well as a pool bar and grill area. * There are lounge and bar areas (the "Upstairs Lounge & Bar" and the "Bel Air Lounge") where you can relax with drinks, cocktails, exotic teas, and coffees. * The "Red Fiesta" restaurant has large windows that look out over the Nile; it serves buffet breakfasts and lunches, à la carte dinners, and BBQs on the pool deck from time to time. * The spa has spa treatments, a Turkish bath, a fitness center, a hairdresser, and a boutique/gift shop. Internet and lounge area: WiFi is available in the lounge and public areas, and there is an Internet corner.
Details about how things work and how they work
* Length: around 70 m, width: about 11.5 m, draft: about 1.5 m. * Speed is slow (river pace) and the ship is built for comfort, not speed. Instead of being a big ship for mass tourists, the company calls the ship a "boutique floating hotel" on the Nile.
Routes / Length
* Cruises usually go from Luxor to Aswan for 4 nights, 3 nights, or 7 nights, stopping at important sites along the river (such Edfu, Kom Ombo, and the Valley of the Kings). * For example, a cruise from Aswan to Luxor for 4 days and 3 nights.
What makes it different
* There aren't many suites, and the decor is really nice, so it feels more like a luxury boutique hotel on the Nile than a big cruise ship. * The sun deck has a swimming pool and a hot tub, which is not common for Nile river cruises in this class. The restaurant, rooms, and terraces all have great views of the river, which makes the experience even better. High-end cabin features like bathtubs, mini-bars, and unique furnishings make it a great choice for those who want comfort and flair. It also has a good balance of leisure (spa, pool, sun deck) and exploration (seeing historic temples and attractions along the Nile) in one package.
Things to check or tips: * WiFi in cabins may be poor or not accessible at all; reports claim WiFi is usually only available in lounges and public areas. Like with other river excursions, the sights and activities depend on the river's condition and the docks. Check the schedule to see what's included.
* Some experts say that for more formal dinners, you should wear smart casual clothes (no shorts or denim). To make sure you have enough money, check what is included (meals, excursions/tours, drinks) and what is extra (spa services, laundry, etc.). Because it is a small boutique hotel, you should reserve early during busy travel times to get the cabin you want.
